How can I protect you from the evil in this world? How can I make sure you are safe? How do I let you go from this…
to school, to camp, to college, to work….where anything, anything can happen. How can I be a good parent and teach you be on your own when I know there is darkness and hate lurking around the corner? How will I know you’ll be sitting in section 101 of a concert venue instead of section 102? I cannot. I will not. We cannot. We will not. We have to release this gripping feeling of fear. We have to move forward. We have to believe and we have to continue to spread love. Everything I’ve worried about has never happened. Everything I never thought to worry about has happened. Doesn’t this prove that worrying is not worthwhile? That worrying won’t affect anything? The worry is not worth what it takes away from us – from living our lives, moving forward, spreading love, raising good humans. Because these are the things. These are the only things that will affect anything.
