Just feed me and tell me I’m pretty.
It’s almost the END of January which means I am officially in my last trimester of pregnancy and the countdown has begun. Wait, who am I kidding I’ve been counting down since I first threw up. The New Year has proved exciting so far. I skied pregnant, you guys. Don’t tell my Mom. Here’s the thing(s) – I’ve been skiing since I could walk, I took it very slow, I was very cautious. And I felt normal! I felt great! I’ve been diagnosed with a temporary pregnancy disorder beautifully appointed Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction whereby every time I separate my legs it feels like a hot torch is searing my pelvis apart. No big deal, right? In skiing (as in paddle boarding) you have to keep your legs together.
The fresh air, the movement, the exercise endorphins. I was back to my normal self for a couple of hours (you can check out a short proof video, here.) One of my favorite quotes about skiing is, “Don’t learn from a loved one.” We usually put the kids in lessons in the morning and then review their skills in the afternoon. That usually means bending over a 3 year old for an hour. Skiing with kids is a total back-breaker!
We never forget our Salonpas Pain Relief Patches on the Mountain. They are a necessity in skiing and also perfect for long car rides. Whenever Decker sees Hubby putting one on his lower back he says “You putting one of those weird things on your bum again Daddy?” And get this – Salonpas is giving away $100 worth of product away to 2 MIM readers! Simply write in the comment section below why you need them or want to try them. Here’s a good example – because, MOTHERHOOD! They will pick 2 winners at the end of the week. Contest over January 26th, 2017.
I’m slowly getting around to organizing for a newborn to grace our home again although I haven’t totally reached frantic nesting mode yet. I’m working with the very talented Kristy Kay Design out of Nantucket on a gender-neutral nursery theme which has certainly helped jumpstart my uterus, but more on that later (the nursery, not my uterus.) Did I mention we aren’t finding out what we are having? I am a “knower” typically. I found out with my first two. Actually, I was the person that gawked at people who said they weren’t finding out – What? Why? How? But here’s my reasoning(s) – I already have a boy, I already have a girl, I have all the stuff, I have heard that not knowing makes your pregnancy feel faster (it totally has), I have heard it makes delivery exciting and less scary (here’s hoping), and how many more fun surprises do we get after 37 years of life? So, I am a reformed “knower.” I’ll let you know if it was worth it later.
I’ve already started poking around my go-to website for all things newborns which is, Diapers.com. They literally have everything and anything you could want. I learned through searching they now offer gifts for moms (well, thank you!), and guides on how to chose the best prenatal vitamins and pregnancy tests. They truly deliver “everything but the baby” and let’s be honest, shopping in an actual store can be overrated, am I right?
An adorable pair of boy’s shoes showed up on my doorstep this month. The brand is ikiki, I featured them on my Instagram page recently; I’m a huge new fan. They feature a patented squeak which I admittedly hated at first until my son showed me you could turn it off. Yes, my 3 year old showed me that feature. These shoes are attention-getters even with the squeak turned off. They are great looking and he’s always so proud whenever he’s wearing them. He loves being able to control the squeak; annoying his sister with it or showing off in the grocery aisle. And he’s really good about turning them off when I ask him to because he can do it autonomously. They are also perfect for new walkers – a total confidence booster all around. That’s a lot from a little shoe. Psst: ikiki is giving away 1 free pair to one of my Facebook followers. Simply write “Squeak” in the comment section under this post on Facebook, tag a friend, and you’ll be entered to win any design of your choice.
And for the biggest news of the month – I’ll be unveiling a new website soon! I’ll still be writing because writing’s my favorite but you’ll also have better access to my favorite products, services, and brands including fun new MIM products. Make sure to sign up under “Never Miss A Post” on the right to get a first glimpse of the new site.
I’ll leave you with some wacky things I tend to do in my 3rd trimester:
1. Check to see if I delivered after I pee.
2. Eat melted muenster cheese off a plate
3. Randomly start bawling.
4. Snore like I weigh 300lbs.
5. Dream like I’m on LSD.
