We finished up our April vacation with a first-time visit to Yarmouth, Massachusetts in Cape Cod. (Make your arm into a muscle and Yarmouth is the bicep. Suns out, guns out.) We’ve never been to this part of Cape Cod; driving to the town we saw everything we’d expect to see and we couldn’t be happier – trinket stores, pirate coves, go karts, mini golf, adorable ice cream shops, sweatshirts and towel stores, and what looked to be like some darn good seafood establishments. The Red Jacket Beach resort is situation DIRECTLY on Nantucket Sound and you can’t beat the view driving down the very private entry way. We stayed in a townhouse overlooking the Sound that featured 2 floors with a 3 bedroom-2 bath, kitchen, dining, and living room set up. Although we only stayed for the weekend we could have easily been comfortable here for the week.
I met up with the Communications Manager for all of Red Jacket Resorts (count ’em here!) and I was very surprised to hear that Yarmouth alone has 5 resorts. I got to tour every one of them and you know what the best thing I learned was? No matter where you stay among the Red Jacket Yarmouth Resorts you have access to ALL OF THE OTHER RJ RESORTS! Yes, it’s true. If you come to Yarmouth or the surrounding towns and DON’T stay at Red Jacket you are seriously missing out. Here’s my favorite part about each one of the resorts I toured –
RED JACKET BEACH RESORT
Perfect for families. The beachfront is beautiful and boasts a long jetty out into the ocean my kids love to walk on. Their is an indoor/outdoor pool and plenty of fun games to keep them entertained! It’s a good family-friendly affordable resort you can use in multiple seasons (as you can see from our coats.)
BLUE WATER BEACH RESORT
Down the street from Red Jacket and a little smaller, Blue Water Beach Resort is a lovely place to stay. The rooms are decorated in quintessential Cape-style decor that makes you want to nestle right in. If your family is larger, there are suites with 2 or 4 bedrooms. The pool and bar area looked like a lot of fun and the indoor tiled hot tub was calling my name!
If you’re a golfer or even just like the golf course atmosphere, than the BLUE ROCK GOLF CLUB is for you. The course is an Award Winning 18-Hole Par 3 course that looks equally beautiful and challenging. This resort features an outdoor pool, casual restaurant for breakfast or lunch and a pro shop. It’s the smallest of their resorts, but also the most reasonably priced (and remember you can still use all the oceanfront resort amenities). And Blue Rock is only a quarter mile from the new extension to the Cape Cod Rail Trail (opening July 1) perfect for biking.
We didn’t visit the Riveria Beach Resort because it wasn’t open yet (May 25th) but it looks perfect for families. A true outdoor playground on the Ocean! The Green Harbor Resort intrigued me the most. I think this is where we will stay next time we come to the Cape. You can stay at the main resort or if you are traveling with a group you can rent 4 bedroom homes hidden from the hustle and bustle that still includes resort amenities and housekeeping. Green Harbor boasts it’s own private beach (complete with a playground!) to sit and watch the Nantucket ferries go by. They even have their own mini golf course and boats to use.
Can you even believe all of this is offered in the town of Yarmouth, Down the Cape? And can you even believe that wherever you stay, you’ll have access to every single resort ammenity?? I was blown away. I’ll leave you with 2 (okay 3) tips because this wouldn’t be a MIM post without tips, right?
