IN LIKE A LION{ESS}: A MARCH ROUNDUP & REFLECTION

0 Permalink

So Kristin you are due in a month, how are you feeling!?

Elated! I get to meet a new baby soon!
Scared shitless! We’re having another baby!
So tired I can’t get out of bed in the morning!
So amp’ed up I can’t sit down during the day!
So happy to soon be a family of 5!
So sad to say goodbye to our little family of 4!

How do I feel? Crazy.  I feel crazy.

I realized something about myself this month. ¬†I’m not a very good pregnant person. ¬†I’m not good at sharing my body. ¬†I’m not good at bonding with someone I haven’t officially met. ¬†I need to be able to touch, see, cultivate, and help in order to feel good. ¬†I need to be hands on. ¬†I need control. ¬†I need to be an active participant, not stand by and wait…and feel. ¬†But when you have a month to go that’s really all you can do, right? Give up control, and wait. ¬†March came in roaring hot for me. ¬†How does the saying go….”In Like A Lion?”¬† This pregnancy was the only one that flew by up until now. Mostly because I was busy being a parent to two other small children…some days I even had to remind myself I was pregnant. ¬†People keep asking me when I’m going to slow down and somewhere along the line I think I forgot I had to? ¬†When you work for yourself and you’re a Mom to 2 other kids, how do you stop? I’m not sure I¬†even know how. ¬†So for now, I’m trying to focus on the present, and take this Lion{ess} day by day.

Tomorrow night I’ll be featured at the Improv Boston. ¬†My husband has been so nervous for me up until last night when I told him I didn’t actually have to do Improv. ¬†(Clearly he’s got no love for my ex-acting career that consisted of high school plays and the occasional back-up dancer in college musicals. Have you seen my jazz hands?) ¬†The {professional!} actors will ask me questions and then do scenes based off my answers. ¬†I think this will be a ton of fun and if you are in the area I’d love for you to come have a laugh with us. ¬†I’ll make sure to post snippets on my social media channels after. ¬†The following Thursday I’ll be hosting a table at The Ultimate Moms Night Out in Somerville selling “Like A Mother” bags and my book while doling out free smiles. ¬†This is a great event for local Moms, make sure to get $5 off tickets with code MIM17. ¬†Here I am speaking about our village¬†at the event last year…
On the 19th I’m taking the kids to see Paw Patrol Live. ¬†We had an EPIC giveaway on my Facebook page with over 50,000 people participating. ¬†Tickets are still available!¬† On the 23rd I’m hoping to get to the Drool, Baby Expo and meet with some great companies (more on that soon.) We decided to celebrate Paigely’s birthday a month early so that I wouldn’t miss it (fingers crossed.) ¬†Baby #3 is due a week before her actual birthday and then it’s Easter and Spring Break! ¬†I love Springtime. ¬†I love the smells and the colors and the promise of Summer. ¬†I found a super cute new fashion line out of Canada for kids that just came out with a Spring 2017 collection and now sells everywhere in the US. ¬†It’s called The Noruk Collection¬†and we are obsessing over the stretchy, comfortable fabric with cute prints. ¬†It’s all very affordable too! Paigely & Decker will soon be rockin’ pieces from the Sweetheart and Nautical Club collections, look for it over on Instagram once the weather gets warmer.

Are you currently as pregnant as I am or have young children? Then you know going shopping is next to impossible. ¬†Check out Baby Cubby. ¬†They sell everything and anything you could possibly need PLUS they have resource guides and trend tips I’ve been enjoying. ¬†You can pick from essentials, nursery, feeding, clothing, and sale items. ¬†It’s a great one-stop shop with free shipping over $49 (you know you can’t walk out of Target with spending less than $49, dare you to try it here.)

It’s International Women’s Day today, check out this stellar list of women-run businesses (cultivated by my fellow blogger, Boston Mama’s Christine Koh) – and thanks for the shout-out, girlfriend. ¬†I’ll leave you with this sentiment from my 5 year old daughter in honor of this special day. ¬†Here’s hoping March goes out like a lamb (although I have a feeling it won’t!)

Me: “Hey hon, it’s International Women’s Day! How do you think you contribute to making the world a better place?”
Her: “Well…I draw pretty pictures. And I hug people when they are sad. I smile a lot. I go to school and learn things. And I travel to other countries. What about you?”
Me, floored: “Well…I write to make people laugh, feel better, and hopefully bring them together. ¬†But my most important job is raising you so that you can keep on answering that question in the same exact way.”
