I am a terrible driver and know nothing about cars. In fact mine is in the shop all week because I backed into a pole (in our driveway) and did over $1500 worth of damage. I’m so not telling Hubs that number. Serves him right for not reading my blog every day. So when Saliun Tires thru PTPA invited me out to a blind test on a closed race course, I was super nervous. Could they tell I was a bad driver? Probably. Would I be able to tell a difference between the tires? Probably Not.
When I arrived at the event we all sat down to hear about the Sailun brand. I loved this part because I’m an ex-Marketing geek who’s used to meetings where I’d say things like “Good, Better, Best” and “Core Competencies.” Sometimes I miss hearing those words coming out of my mouth instead of “Stop eating that chalk” and “No. No you cannot stick your finger in my eye.”
The tire challenge consisted of various maneuvers including a slalom course, braking, and acceleration on a closed road course in wet and dry conditions with professional drivers named “Haz-Mat” and “Scruffy. ” These guys have fun. Identical vehicles were outfitted with Sailun and competing tires. We then had to rate each tire. I couldn’t tell a difference at all. But little did I know – that was the point! Sailun was up against a much more expensive tire, and handled just as beautifully (under my horrific display of driving.) Here’s “Haz-Mat” posing for a picture with me and trying not to run from the car.
I had a blast, got my hair blown back, and learned a lot along the way. Thanks, Sailun Tires!
Now through September 15th, Sailun Tires is hosting a really fun giveaway:
