I order 90% of my kid’s gifts online, how about you? For some reason though, I like to go to actual stores to buy gifts for peers and family members. I think it’s because I like to see, touch and feel the quality of a gift before giving it to an adult. I don’t have a ton of time to do this so it needs to be quick and convenient. There’s only one place I trust to get in this one-fowl-swoop/one-stop shopping trip locally and that’s The Derby Street Shoppes.
You can follow along my gift guide below even if you don’t live locally though, there are plenty of stores that are also available nationwide. I’m partnering with The Derby Street Shoppes to do a fun little giveaway. Read through the gift guide; if you find something you like for yourself or others write it in the comment section of this Facebook or Instagram Post on my MIM pages and use the hashtag #WishListAtDerby. We’ll pick 2 winners (1 from each social media site) to be sent a gift bag with a selection of items from the stores I’ve featured below. Feel free to enter twice (comment on both.) Each bag will be filled with goodies from the stores I mention, totaling $150!
FOR YOUR CHILD’S TEACHER…
A Toni&Guy Blow Out.
A woman who has been dealing with 25 kids all week long does not want your candle or homemade Pinterest craft. Give her the gift of feeling like a new woman (who hasn’t been dealing with 25 kids all week long.)
A Ruby Necklaces
This new woman’s fashion brand just hit The Derby Street Shoppes in November. I love the simple, effortless essentials they carry. Their affordable (and adorable) necklaces and charm bracelets would stand-out as a unique, hip teacher-gift.
FOR YOUR HUSBAND…
Yeti. All day long, you can’t go wrong. Spend more on a beach cooler or less on a beer koozie or coffee cups. The brand is prevalent all over Derby Street’s REI location. PSST: You can also get discounted lift tickets there, take a class on snowshoeing basics, and learn about local trails.
FOR YOUR MOM…
The A Ruby double wrap coat. “Isn’t she loveeeely?” I want to wrap myself up in it and never leave the couch but then if I have to leave the couch it’d be okay because it’s cute, too.
At Nic + Zoe – A Hobo wallet
Ok so I definitely bought myself a HOBO wallet from Nic + Zoe the other day when no one was looking. They are my absolute favorite in wallet brands. They last for years. I just gave my old one to my 6 year old to play with. I think I bought that one when she was born, no joke. (And it’s not even in horrible condition!)
FOR YOUR TEENAGE DAUGHTER/COUSIN/NIECE
I used to have a rule of thumb in my late 20’s. If you see a teenager wearing it, the trend has passed. Achoo CoachUggs. But now, “these teenagers these days” are looking more on-trend than I could have ever hope to be. I love the store Francescas – although not specifically for teens, it gives such a great range of trendy options without going overboard. You can’t go wrong with a gift card to avoid an eyeball behind your back.
FOR YOUR (GIRL) FRIEND
Anthropologie Anything. (These earrings!)
AND A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR YOU
Blue Mercury is my new happy place. They are loaded with a ton of innovative skincare, hair, and makeup lines that you can’t get anywhere else AND they have a spa in the back!
Evereve. I’ll admit I didn’t go into this store for a long time thinking it was too hip for me. But now I buy 50% of my wardrobe from this fun store!
…and don’t forget to stop at White’s Bakery for a mid shopping session treat!
