When one of the best commercial fitness photographers in Boston asks to take pictures of your kids you run – do not walk – to her studio location. Although I had never worked with her before, I was very familiar with Lucie Wicker’s work from being a prior yoga studio owner in the city. I loved the way she captured the inner and outer strength of her subjects; from the muscle detail in a yoga teacher to the girl-boss determination in the eyes of a female boxer. When she told me she wants to start photographing kids with a focus on their favorite sports or activities I thought this to be a truly brilliant idea. I can only imagine when we’re older and reminiscing about our kids we’ll remember them playing and laughing – mouth wide open in a delicious grin or eyes narrowed and focused with a deep concentration only a two year old can provide. I love watching my kids be active; I love watching them be free and silly and totally authentic. When I explained this to Lucie she couldn’t agree more.
So with almost no direction other than “Please stop hitting your sister with the bat” we got a perfectly imperfect blend of the kids in their own natural element. Thank you, Lucie, for securing the moments we want to hold in our hearts forever.
