Tips for Mom, Pre-Delivery, if time allows:
1.) Expect nothing and then everything will go as planned!
2.) Make sure you have chapstick
3.) Be kind to your husband
4.) Let your husband watch Sports in the delivery room. It helps take his mind of seeing you in pain and you might have a great story afterwards: Little Miss P was born during a Bruins game, we will never forget that game or the season.
5.) Be nice to the nurses even if they aren’t nice to you at first. They do most of the work. They have seen and heard everything. And You want them on your side…literally.
6.) Throw a cute headband on before you go to the hospital. You won’t even know it’s there but it will hold the flyaways back. And when you get your post delivery picture taken everyone will tell you how adorable you look with that thing on.
PS: Any one see the episode of “Up All Night” regarding #5? I wrote this 3 months before that episode aired! Glad to see Christina Applegate agreed with me on this one.
7.) Get a pedicure before your due date. I was staring at my toes wishing I did.
8.) Send your modesty packing. You can assume your body is an open book the second you enter the hospital. This sounds bad now but you won’t think twice about it when the contractions start
9.) Eat. Eat. Eat. Eat something before you go to the hospital even if you aren’t hungry. You will be 15hours
into labor and it’s too late then. I learned this the hard way.
10.) Don’t wear nice lingerie. Not like maternity lingerie is nice to begin with but seriously…don’t do it. My bra had to be CUT off in order to get the epidural wires in the right place and the other half…let’s just say there is no reason to keep it.
