SHOPPING WITH CLASS…AND A SIDE OF SASS

0 Permalink

In college I was obsessed with Urban Outfitters. My friends and I would spend hours in the Cambridge store flipping through racks for deals and scoring vintage buys.  I’ll admit it, I still have a stare down with a T shirt in their window from time to time.  But here’s the thing – I feel like a giant geriatric walking in there now.  I’ve since graduated to Anthropologie.  Thank God for Anthropologie stores.  I love how they offer funky clothes that are still classy and housewares that are unique yet approachable.  My only issue was, I couldn’t find one near me. So when I found out one was opening in the Derby Street Shoppes I did a little happy dance in my 4 year old palazzo pants.  I needed this.

Last week I was invited by the lovely staff at Derby Street to attend a private event the night before it opened.  I took my Mom.  We’ve been shopping partners-in-crime since 1984:

I loved the little corners of magic that seemed to permeate this store.  I mean, just look at this wall! How do you NOT buy a candle off this wall!? {Don’t ask me.}

Call me a prima donna but I can’t shop in an overcrowded area with stuffed-to-the-gils racks that aren’t organized.  A graduated girl needs space to pick out an outfit she’s going to wear for 4 years right? Anthro-Hingham was a brilliant breathe of fresh air…

The team was pulled from all over the country to create the look and feel of the store. Did you know these flowers and leaves are made out of price tags and the sign made out of pencils? It’s like Pinterest made love to an interior designer and had a baby in here.

Each member of the design team wrote a letter to the person they missed the most and put it in an envelope to create this quilt backdrop {swoon.}

In the home section, no details were left unturned – those are hundreds of clothespins on the wall…

So, have you graduated yet?  Grab your shopping partner-in-crime and head directly to Anthropologie at the Hingham Derby Street Shoppes.  Lose your old college style without losing your sass.

10% of the night’s sales were donated to The South Shore Conservatory. (Naturally, I had to buy things.)
