THE MISADVENTURE TALKS: WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST FEAR?

I swear this isn’t a sad trombone post.

You are about to have a baby and suddenly every heated appliance in your house looks like a fire-breathing dragon.  Outlets look like flesh eating monsters and cabinets containing poisonous chemicals become your mortal enemy.  You run around like a chicken with your head cut off child-proofing your entire home.  Your baby comes out and you realize they can’t get into any real mobile trouble until at least 5 months later.  You’re left cursing the silverware drawer every time you try to open it while your husband screams downstairs that he can’t lift the damn toilet seat. Sound familiar?

We are hard wired to protect our children.  The second I became pregnant my brain started coming up with ways to make our home safer.  I think there are probably 3 different kinds of “Child-Proofers:”
1.) The Top To Bottomer – every thing in the home from top to bottom including the spice rack is childproofed
2.) The Middle Of The Roader – Major things are childproofed and/or just the things that the specific child is getting into.
3.) The Laissez Fairer – Letting things take their own course and having children learn from mistakes, barring any major safety concerns.

I am a Middle Of The Roader.  My biggest fear is windows.
This was not my proudest parenting moment:

Simply write in on the MIM Facebook page under this post answering any or all of the following questions to get the conversation started:

Have you learned to outsmart your child when it comes to home safety? Have they outsmarted you? What’s your biggest home safety fear?

Even better upload a picture or video of your attempts to outsmart your children, or vice versa.  The comment, image, or video with the most likes by the end of the day on Thursday, March 3rd will win the entire Safety 1st OutSmart collection so make sure to tag your friends!
